TRS TRACKDAY
(October 2005)

The day started out very well.  The weather was perfect and everyone was in good spirits. We departed from Petron SLEX a little passed seven and were doing a brisk convoy to BRC.  We met some other car groups on the road too!

The convoy arrived right on time at BRC.  Before we got to the track however, I was pleased to see that JP Tuason did something about the dirt road just before the track.  He even had a marshal wait for us and guide the cars down the part were the road cuts off.

Once on the track, we registered and went to the first lecture.  There were six car groups there - Club Mitsu, Track Ho's, MR2 Club, Ford Club, Protege Club and MCP basically.  There was ample track time for everyone.  There were driving exercises at the start then lapping sessions.  We all had decent track time and it was very organized.  It was also very safe.

The fun really started when we got to do our flyng laps!  We were all very excited to be out on the track and boy did we go!  The racers were naturally quick on the track - Allan, Chito, and Jerry (oh Jerry brought his son too and it seems he has his dad's potential)!  Jerry surprised everyone with his smooth driving which
made him very quick around the track! Good job!

Some of the other guys did very well too.  The first timers were quite steady behind the wheel!  Ezra was going steadily at his pace while Jo La'O was a surprise - he was remarkably fast for someone who doesn't go to the track!  I myself got carrid away during the event - I came in too hot into one of the corners and did a spectacular, er, 'thing' which put me somewhere on the outside of the racing line.. Good thing I had the presence of mind to remember the, er, 'brakes'.  He, he.  It was really hot that day too; I think that the heat got to me.. Yeah, that's it! The heat got to me, yeah, that's the ticket!

Giles, I know, also had an 'interesting' time!  Right Giles?  He, he...!  Yeeha.

Then, around lunch time, the clubs went up to the dining area to have well, lunch, basically.  It was home cooked food - 'nilagang baka'(good soup!), fried chicken, barbecued pork belly, er, rice and this sweet green pandan 'thing' for desert.  Nothing fancy but at the rate our appetites were going, anything would've been good.  Nonetheless, they could still do better with the food next time I think..

There was a lecture then a comptetition (interclub) after lunch with lots of prizes - I didn't get any though (sigh).  Well,  at this point (I ate na rin naman, he, he), I had to leave.  I didn't stay for the competition anymore..  Those who joined please feel free to post your experience!

Star Toll was a blast - at least for those with more pliant suspension systems; for me, it was another long 'blender ride'.  At least it aided my digestion, turning every ounce of solid food I had into a smooth consisted chyme which evaporated into my body - in other words, I got hungry again.  I drove with Jo La'o going home.  We ran into traffic at Lipa but once on the Star Toll he practically flew away from me!  We stopped at Caltex to cool down then went our own ways from there.  A good cool shower when I got home just hit the spot after all that driving!

Overall, not a bad day!

Ciao Guys!
