I
proceeded straight to the track and got there at about 3:00 pm. As I looked onto the track, I could see that Joselu's
practice was over as his Miata was blowing white smoke out its exhaust. Dan was explaining that his clutch had gone.
Kookie Ramirez was telling Martin, Mozee, Ricci and Santy that he would show them the racing line around the track a few
times and then let them loose. So, sali na ako sa
kanila.
Did you know that the Subic circuit features an off road portion? It does! Honest. I found it just before the bus stop when all four of my Miatas tires touched grass.
One of the lessons Kookie teaches in his class is what to do when you lose it (control, that is). Well, I got to practice that lesson in a vain attempt to keep up with Jenny's fast disappearing Miata. Actually, I was only following Joey Pery's advice which was to follow Jenny around the track since he had taught her the proper racing line.
In between hot laps, we were treated to demonstrations of speed, power and control by the Camus brothers and some of their fellow racers in their hot Hondas. We were also enthralled by recollections of adventures (actually, misadventures) on the tracks by Kookie and the other racers.
