Again, Ricci was one happy camper. He raced up the hill after just one familiarization run.
Boy did he go for it. His car went sideways three times in a vicious tank slapper but because of his newfound driving
skills, he was able to regain control of his Miata. After his first run though, he couldn't light his cigarette because
he had a bad case of the shakes! But he was happy. He placed third, in his class, took home a trophy and was happy.
Even Santy took home a trophy for just competing in the hill climb. Dan just did one run because we was nursing his
clutch for the races. Gabby de la Merced, the Production class lady racer really got into the Hill climb competition.
She did a total of 4 runs, trying to better the times of Mike Anton. Only her first two runs counted though, but she
was really determined, a real competitor. Mike Anton took the Hill by storm in his Autoplus Honda Civic SIR Super Saloon
Race Car. That thing even had launch control, a feature that could be programmed into its Motec ECU. That was Jody
Coseteng's championship winning car last year BTW.
During the awarding dinner, sponsored by Outlast and Gulf, the trophies and awards were handed out to the competitors.
Those were really nice trophies! Nice and quite large. Plus there were prizes like Car Batteries, Motor Oil, Jackets and
Key chains. Everyone had a great time, even our guests the Saloon racers. They promised to do it again in November.
