Tagaytay Breakfast Run – December 24, 2005
At around 6:30 A.M., my dad and I get to Petron SLEX. A few guys are already there. A few arrive shortly thereafter. There are 8 Miatas. Present are me, my dad, ChitoF with his number 2… (…Miata J), Santy, Rey, Keith, Ruel and his son, Ezra and his bro-in-law, Tristan and his wife. While waiting to see if a few more guys would show up, we start discussing where in Tagaytay to have breakfast. Keith strongly suggests Josephine’s because it’s a buffet and Ruel reacts “Noche Buena na nga mamaya mag-bubuffet ka pa ngayon… Kaya naman pala binigyan ni Jenny ng allowance yung racing suit mo noong nagpagawa ka e…” J Others suggest we try the new place by Starbucks and Pancake House: The Grill by Antonio’s. With everyone wanting to try something new, the decision is to skip Josephine’s. Keith is so sad.
We leave Petron SLEX at a little before 7 and then drive up to Tagaytay via Asia Brewery and Santa Rosa. The drive up is just right. Not too fast… Not too slow… As we near Tagaytay, the cool Christmas wind welcomes us.
We get to The Grill at around 7:30 only to find that isn’t open ‘till 8. This is music to Keith’s ears and with everyone’s stomachs calling to them, we drive over to the nearby Josephine’s. Keith is so happy. And as soon as we park our cars, Keith heads straight for the table… not our table but the buffet table that is. And while most of us enjoy the Christmas weather and the view of Taal Lake and Volcano outside, Keith is munching away inside. He did not have rice, btw.
We have a very filling meal while exchanging stories and jokes. And with everyone enjoying the cool weather so much, some come up with the idea of doing a Baguio Run this January. Jojo, you game?
With all of us stuffed and ready to head back for Manila, we ask for the bill... And a few moments after we settle the bill, Rey says “Its Tristan and his wife’s Wedding Anniversary!” Everyone greets them a happy anniversary and asks “Why did you only tell us now?” Tristan jokingly replies “Kasi tapos na tayo magbayad e.” J Happy Anniversary again!
At around 9 we head back for Manila as Keith has yet another eating (lunch) engagement to catch J. For those who weren’t able to join us, we look forward to doing this again before the holidays end. Probably December 31. Stay tuned! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!
