Hi Folks,

I guess I'm the first one back from the trip, that's me and Robbie BTW. We arrived in Manila at 12:00 midnight last night. The others, Joey A., Chem, Norman, and Jason decided to go up to Baguio and spend the night there. Keith decided to stay in Ilocos Norte with his wife.

Boy-oh-boy-oh-boy, what a trip! That run from Laoag to Pagudpud is something else! The best roads the country has to offer. Ripple free, winding, and with great views. That Aquaeduct was something else. We climbed to the top of the lighthouse (a first for me). We had Lobster (real Lobster) for lunch at a beach in Pagudpud.

Among the many highlights of the trip were three low mountain ranges (AKA winding roads!). The first two were separated by a long aquaduct under which the waves of the northern most Philippine shore were crashing beneath. The next two were separated by this long shoreline straight, I would say about 2 kms., where you could hit around 160 before coming to the next mountain range.

We have loads and loads of pictures, movies, etc.

We met this wonderful man with a Miata who lives in Laoag, Mr. Pompey Crisologo. He invited us to dinner Saturday evening at his house (great house) and the next morning he led our trip North from Laoag. At first we thought he was going to be a slouch at 65 yrs., but he drove at a very good clip. Very enjoyable!  He took us all the way to the boundary of Cagayan before turning back. Because of his generous hospitality, we took the liberty of making him an honorary member. We'll be mailing him a club T-shirt and a cap and copies of the photos. We already gave him a club sticker.

Lot's of stories, lot's of laughs. This run should be experienced by all club members at least once and I'm sure that the number of runners will just keep getting bigger and bigger every year because I for one am going back!

Next meeting we'll have so much to talk about.

PS. The lowest point of the trip was the *&%$#@!# North Expressway on the way back to
Manila. I swear that highway is getting really bad specially after experiencing the roads up north.

Wowowowowow!!! The best part of the Pagudpud run for me was chasing Joey A up Naguillan road! It was around 8pm, few other cars around , pitch black; the effect was surreal. What a high! I didn't think I was capable of driving that road that fast! It's like a dream now. We weren't gunning it to the limit on the straights, but we were taking the turns pretty well. Imagine the drop if you overshoot the turns! :-) Joey said what was slowing him down was that his lights didn't have enough spill to the sides to illuminate the turns(!) :-O What a guy!
