Was that a good Christmas Party or what?!
'Cuz there are some parts that I probably don't remember : )
As ChitoF and I were preparing for the party we were afraid that not many
would show up because only 30 of you guys confirmed attendance. A month
ago we were trying to book a place for over 60 persons thinking that since
40 guys attend the breakfast meetings, 60 would be a decent number
including guests. But the response over this list was so weak that we had
to keep on downgrading.
. . . . ahhhhh what the heck! Confirmed or unconfirmed a lot of you guys
came to the party, and we had a great time! So many in fact that I didn't
know where to sit you guys. Moreover, I was worried that some of you
wouldn't have anything to eat because of the discrepancy in the reservation
and the attendance.
At 730 we started to have dinner and by 8 we were showing the videos. The videos were made by Norman Castillo and Greg Germar and they were outstanding! Norman's video was composed of the Motorsports Festival and the Auto Extreme interview, while Greg's video was of the BRC track day onboard Greg's car.
After the videos, Carlo and Edrich put on their Power Point presentation
which consisted of a short introduction of the miata club as well as
pictures and a narration of the year's events. It was like reliving the
year over again! Ganun kahaba yung ginawa ni Carlo! What can we do? We
really did have a number of events this year and indeed they were all
there. But Carlo, where were the pics of the bikini babes? You have to
email those bikini pics to us, I'm getting too much flak from the members
who haven't seen them. Seriously though, Carlo did a wonderful job of
collating the pics of the year's events and Edrich did a masterful job of
narrating them to the party.
The power point presentation was followed by the racing awards which was given out by the outgoing Racing Committee Chairman Louis Camus and the incoming Chairman Bubi Camus and myself. Those trophies were so nice I wanted them for myself! It was nice accepting them for those that couldn't attend.

Next up was the exchange gift. I've never conducted an exchange gift
before, and I don't know how to do these things, I was first up on the
bunutan, but at the end of it all I noticed that I didn't get a
gift! Either I was just too happy or Ricci and I were just plain idiots up
there! What the heck! I commandeered a gift that I wanted from all the
gifts that were there, an FHM calendar! It's good to be the King! Thanks Mon!
After the exchange gift we had the raffle and we had so many presents to
raffle off! Apparel from Jenny and JoeyP, Red Ribbon gift certificates
from RomyM, Philhealth stuff from Rolly, Baguio Country Club gift
certificates from JojoO, EBC brake pads from Carl Cunanan, umbrellas from
ChitoS, really nice lighted shock absorber key chains from Mon's Carshack -
tons of stuff!!! You guys are so generous to the club! If I've forgotten
to mention some of our donors please let me know and we'll give them their
due recognition.
We had so much stuff to give away that I didn't know what to do with them and so I asked Jeric to conduct his parlor games using the presents as prizes and he did a wonderful job of distributing the presents to the club members through his games!

The party was ending and still I was seeing new faces trickling in, I think
we had over 70 persons there. But I think I should refrain from mentioning
numbers as I wasn't in a state to do an accurate count : )
The important thing is we had a great time last night! Thank you all of
you for making our 2002 Christmas party a night to remember! Merry
Christmas!!!
This party would not have been possible without the 25thousand pesos from Globe which we won because of Chito Frondoso's insistence on enrolling us in the text group and whose advertising blitz over the list made sure that none of us forgot the date of the party. Norman Castillo whose advice for the conceptualization of the programme was indispensable. Carlo Ablaza whose active participation for the preparation of the party was nothing short of tireless, and who also sourced a projector for us, saving us 5thousand pesos in projector rental fees. Greg Germar, Allan Lavarro and again Norman Castillo for providing us with the videos that provided us with entertainment while we ate. Outlast Batteries for sponsoring our racing trophies and Jenny Tan for sourcing and providing bridge financing for the said racing trophies. Greg Germar and Carlo Ablaza for the certificates of the members contribution awards. Allan Lavarro, for DDV Designs' contribution to the raffle. Ricci Jimenez who assisted me during the raffle portion as well as Jeric Mariano and Gina Mapua who provided me with much needed relief from the role of Master of Ceremonies during the raffle portion and parlor games portion of the programme. Last but not the least, our new member Gus Lagman whose Monk's Dream bar provided us with a great venue for that event.
. . . and also Romy David whose resolute efforts in soliciting sponsors resulted in the outlast sponsorship for the racers trophies. Thank you Romy!
. . and also, Chito Santiago whose indispensable performance in taking charge of the registration table rendered order in the entrance of the members and collection of the fees. We hope your evening was just as enjoyable despite having to attend to official functions during the party. Thank you Chito!
To all of those mentioned as well as to all of you who attended and participated in our very memorable 2002 Miata Club Christmas Party - our heartfelt gratitude! Thank you very much!
