The morning started with registration and coffee at the Manila Hotel, and followed by a short program to acknowledge the participation of the different car clubs:
VINTAGE CAR CLUB,
BRITISH ROADSTER CLUB MINI CAR CLUB,
MERCEDES BENZ CAR CLUB,
VOLKSWAGEN CAR CLUB,
and the MIATA CLUB.
There were a total of 62 cars that participated and flag off was at 9am. The route was easy and took us along Roxas Blvd, Buendia, Ayala, Makati Ave, Roxas Blvd, and terminating at the Dept of Tourism bldg. As soon as we parked , all the car clubs had their souvenir shots taken on the front steps of DOT. The final shot was taken with all the car clubs together.
We had a good lunch buffet at the mini auditorium at 4th floor sponsored by the DOT. All the participants were given certificates of appreciation and participation. Then the president of each club were given a few minutes to say a few words about the event. MCP VicePres ALLAN Lavarro pitched in for MCP Pres JOJO Ozaeta who had to leave early. ALLAN was able to congratulate the AAP on their 75th anniversary and also thank them for the invitation.
Everyone was having a cool and comfortable time after the sumptuous lunch. By 245pm it was time to adjourn the event.
We all went down together to our cars and it was KEITH who was first to bade goodbye to the gang. In less than a minute after he took off, he called because his miata conked out because his fan belt broke. Luckily the AAP had several tow trucks that were available to help him. His car was immediately hoisted on the platform tow truck and KEITH and his car were on their way home for free, courtesy of AAP. We were quite impressed because the AAP tow team was well trained and well equipped to handle the Miata.
The AAP tow team had extra wooden ramps to use to prevent the nose from scraping against the platform.
KEITH is now a very satisfied AAP member and would not hesitate to recommend AAP to all MCP members.
The rest of us were treated by VEN Rojas to HALO-HALO at his favorite
CHOWKING along C5, but not till after he showed us around the MAHOGANY PLACE, a new residential development in Taguig just off C5. Thanks VEN, for giving us a chance to view the place, ... and for the treat. With three (3!!!) architects with us (NOMER, TRISTAN, and SANTY) , we had no trouble getting a second and a third opinion about the place.
At 430pm, it was finally time to go ....
p.s. I took several pictures of KEITH's miata getting hoisted onto the AAP platform tow truck but for some reason, all the pictures in the SD CARD was accidentally erased as I started to load it into my notebook. Sorry Keith!
