Congratulations to Ven Rojas!! I was going to do a write up but the reports of Ting and Ven say it all. It was a huge success. It couldn't have happened if not for Ven's determination and enthusiasm, that generated the participation of all those who went. Let me just mention the participants yesterday: (as usual, please let me know if i missed out anyone or misspelled a name.... also pleases fill in the blanks) 1. Ven Rojas and Joy plus twins ____ and ______ 2. Rey Reyes and son Gino 3. Santy Lomotan 4. Ting Pascual and daughter Isabela, and friend Pia 5. Edrich Santos and Daisy 6. Chet De Guia and daughter Ayla 7. Gerry de Leon and wife Edna 8. Dioni Dionisio and son Dexter 9. Allan Lavarro 10. NomerTigue 11. Winnie Paler and sons Sean and Takoy 12. Dale Dominado and wife plus son _______ 13. Keith Sundiang and daughter _______ 14. Chito Frondoso Racers: 1. Romy David 2. Romy Mercado 3. Joselu Romero Salas 4. John Camus 5. Bubi Camus with wife and two sons 6. Chito Santiago 7. Joey Pery 8. Rene Mapua 9. Dan Ho 10. Juny Binamira, Jr. I want to make special mention to those guys who happen to hear Ting's distress call over the radio when her Trooper overheated. They were Gerry with wife Edna, Rey and son Gino, Chet and daughter Ayla, and myself. These guys, all in CLASSIC RED miata, stopped to help Ting, and kept her company until her Trooper was loaded on the truck, and until Ting's mom and Dad arrived in a Cefiro, and her sister in a Vios, to rescue Ting and the more valuable granddaughter ISABELA. The rest of the convoy, who failed to hear the radio, had a nice breakfast at the HOLIDAY PLAZA just after the SanFernando exit. They must have been out of range, or simply too hungry to hear anything over the radio. A funny incident happened while we waited for help to arrive. the "OVERWEIGHT PATROL" stopped by us, and we all started to tuck our stomachs in, and were ready to promise them that we would lose weight , and to declare that we were already on a diet, and that some of us were already members of fitness centers. Yun pala, they are responsible to lookout for overweight vehicles, but they stopped to tell us that picnicking along the highway was not allowed. I guess we looked like poor ignorant souls who found the perfect spot to have merienda. Returning to Manila in the afternoon after the races saw the MCP guys leaving at different times. Santy was worried about his fan belts, so Chet, Nomer and I left early to convoy with him. Along the way, i get a call from Rene Mapua whose Miata engine simply just shut off along the Viaduct. Knowing that Keith and Edrich were ahead of me, i called them to watch out for Rene's car along the way. By the time I got there, Keith and Edrich were there. Rene tried to tinker with the car to get it running again, but it was going to get dark soon, and there was no assurance we could get that car going again. Rene called AAP, and in no time, the tow truck arrived, and the Miata was quickly loaded. Thanks to Santy, Nomer, Chet and daughter Ayla, Edrich and Daisy, Rey and Gino , and Keith and daughter, for keeping Rene company until the tow truck left with the Miata and Rene on board. Thanks to Ramon Villacorta who attempted to find and fix the problem via long distance cell phone connection to Edrich's phone. The two very minor incidents could not spoil the very successful Miata day at Subic. Thanks to all the participants. Thanks for all the pictures taken. We hope to see them all posted. Chito Frondoso - 4 cars (Chito F,Chet & daughter Ayla, Rey & son, Gerry & wife Edna) waited gentlemanly for the Tingfs back up car. Pwede naman 1 lang diba? Maybe had all known what happened, all the rest would have stayed. As Ting said nobody complained, nobody asked me to repeat the photo op they missed (all Miata cars present in one grid). An unselfish act indeed. - Keith went there on Saturday just to arrange for the air conditioned room given by Pocholo. He paid 5k for the overnight stay, hung the old pics of MCC, designed the poster and printed a big picture of the Figure 10 also worth 5k just for this event. Whew! - Though Manong Collins was not there, and everybody was looking for his famous Lengua Estupido and pastillas na leche, yet still managed to design the banner last Friday. By the way, the banner was delivered to me 12midnight of Saturday just in time for Sundayfs event. Basta Banner, Collins is the man! - Winnie brought his two (Takoy & Sean-both good photographers) sons... oops brother pala. Bubi did not race but brought his wife and two sons and they arranged for the packed lunch for 100 people(Photographers of FPPF & MCP Members)...a lot of the guys were asking if this was one of the Camus' successful ventures (hehehe). Ting brought her cute baby & friend, food utensils etc.. Doc Dale also brought his bubbly son and of course his wife (yung pinagmanahan hehehe). Chet brought his daughter Ayla, same with Keith who brought his daughter also (passes ba yun) and Dioni brought his son Dexter(?). a Family Day of sorts. Sorry Allan dito sana kita ilalagay kaya lang wala ka pang anak e hehehe. - the food for the Salo-salo: Racers, MCP members, photographers inside a 90sqm room eating a lot of stuff from Ting (siopitas, siomai, Chitchiria, utensils,) from Rey (fruit juices) from Allan (soda, griller for my bbq, projector) from Tristan & Ellen (Pansit) from Romy D./Rose (Siopao) from Juny (2 boxes of soda, from Winnie (beer) Chet (the famous (ube, mongo) sorry kung may nakalimutan ako...and most of them were sitting on the floor (without complaining) coz the chairs were not enough. (Romy M, Chito S. Winnie,Dioni,Nomer,Santy,Chito F for arranging the convoy, Gerry & Edna, Bubi John, Joselu, Dan Ho, Rene(with his Canon 1D) Edrich and friend. -from our ever supporters, Prez Louie who is in Vietnam, Joey B., Martin, Eddie S. Rolly, Jerry, Greg, Hernan, Jojo, O., Norman,Carlo, Jeric, and the rest of the guys who prayed for its success. -of course the one who started this, Mr. Romy D. in cooperation with the very hospitable Pocholo Ramirez, FPPF Mrs Huang & Mr. Beltran and the FPPF photographers... It’s unbelievable that all of you guys belong in one Club. MARAMING SALAMAT PO at MABUHAY and MCP! Ven Rojas Dear MCP members, I've owned a Miata for over 11 years already and was wondering why I had to join the miata club until I experienced the camaraderie yesterday enroute to Subic and at Subic. I would like to thank Chito F, Jerry and wife, Rey and son, Chet and daughter for their patience. My trooper overheated and they all waited patiently with me and my daughter until the tow truck and my back up car arrived. They missed the breakfast at Holiday, Pampanga, the 1st Miata race at 10am but no one complained nor even showed signs of getting impatient or getting anxious. Thanks also to all those who called ChitoF to get updates on how we were doing while we sunbathed at Sta. Rita. I learned later on that some actually called cos they got worried the food and drinks in my car will not reach Subic, haha! You learn something new everyday. Yesterday, I learned how to be a sweeper during the convoy from Sta. Rita to Subic. Lesson learned, never again. Been there, done that. Good thing Rey lent me his radio. Would have beeen a difficult task without one. We made it in time for lunch which was really enjoyable, the food and drinks that everyone brought to the event was really a feast. Sarap ng bbq ni Ven, este ni Joy pala. And the pancit of Ellen is equally good. Bagay na bagay with matching hopia dessert from Dioni. Doc Dale, Allan, Juni, Winnie and Dioni brought drinks. Someone brought pampabatang chicaron, I think it was Rey Reyes, na alzheimer moment lang ako cos I ate too much of it. Lolo Winnie Paler (as my daughter calls him) has so much beer left we need to have another event. Someone also left 2 bottles of red wine in my cooler, sequestered na yon. Thanks to the ever pleasant couple Tristan and Ellen who convoyed going home with me. I got home safely. We successfully got out of Guagua after getting lost for quite some time. Pag may GPS na for Miata, can someone please convince Tristan to get one, haha!! Si Tristan banned na from being convoy lead altho he said, the detour inside the town of Guagua was short cut to the expressway. Sige na nga Tristan, we got out after 2 queries from the locals. A fun experience! Thanks again to all the MCP members, families and friends who showed up. It was well worth the trip. Kudos to Ven for organizing the event. Cheers, Ting Pascual PS. May bonus pa. Ellen and I have pictures with Sam Milby. |
